She was born July 30, 1947 in Paris, she is a French researcher in virology. In 1983, she participated in the discovery of HIV virus human immunodeficiency causing AIDS. She won the Nobel Prize for Medicine .

Ada Lovelace (1815- 1852)

She is known for Mathematics Computing: she is recognised as the first algorithm intended to be carried out by a machine.

So she was the first computer programmer!

 

She was a Russian mathematician. To be able to carry on her mathematics studies abroad, she had to contract a false marriage with  Vladimir Kovalevski.

She registered at Heidelberg University ( Germany) in 1869  then in Berlin but because she was a woman she couldn't attend the courses so she followed private courses.  A theorem is named after her research: Cauchy-Kowalevski theorem.

She is also known for many other worksand was later one of the first university female teachers in Europe ( Stockholm).

She was a Greek mathematician and  astronomer.

She taught philosophy and astronomy.

She was burnt alive by christians.
