Traditional Romanian food

These little yummies are THE smell encountered at any Romanian Piatsa (outdoor market). They are the closest thing you find to Romanian street food. They are very flavorful and smell incredibly good while grilling.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bean soup is one of the queens soup of Romanian cuisine. It is different prepared in various regions. It can have more or less vegetables, it can be flavored with dill or tarragon or it can be cooked with sour cream and vinegar. No matter the differences, bean soup is a very loved soup.

Tripe soup is a very popular soup in Romania and they serve it at restaurants everywhere.It’s a delicious creamy soup from the sour cream, very garlicky because lots of garlic goes in it, and sour from the vinegar. The tripe is cooked for a long time, so  it can be a bit chewy.

Sweet Walnut Bread known as Cozonac cu Nuca is a traditional Romanian sweet bread made with raisins and walnuts or pecans enjoyed at Christmas and Easter.

This is a traditional Romanian recipe. Very simple to make but delicious. It is served with “dulceață” a very sweet preserve and sour cream. The most traditional is served with sour cherry preserve or blueberry preserve.
